Welcome to City of Three Forks City of Three Forks… A Great Place to Live!
In the City of Three Forks, we are defined less by boundaries on a map than by the sense of shared values our residents hold dear. Small town values, guided growth, preservation of historical, cultural, and natural heritage are just a few of the core principles that makes the City of Three Forks a wonderful place to call home.
The City of Three Forks adopted self-governing powers, allowed for by the Montana Constitution and State Law. Three Forks has a Commission-Executive form, outlined in 7-3-201, MCA, often referred to as the council-mayor form of government. Three Forks adopted a Charter which details how the government will run. The Council adopts laws and sets policy, the Mayor enforce/enacts those laws. Other duties for each branch of government are defined in State Law. Because Three Forks has adopted self-governing powers, it follows general governing powers for everything not specifically set by the Council for specific laws within the municipal limits.
